My internet service is $60 a month for 5GB or 5120MB...but somehow, for the first time, I exceeded allowance by 818MB this past billing cycle (probably from uploading my vacation photos, but I still find it hard to believe).
At my current plan I should have been charged $204.50 just for the overage. But since they have a cap, they ONLY charged me $190 in addition to the base $60. The Verizon rep was telling me this like I should be grateful.
And that it was my fault that I had an old data plan that charged more than the new rate plan at the same data usage level...which would have made the overage $38. Yes, that’s right. Only $38.
So, because I didn’t know that I was eligible for a new plan since September 2010, I’ve been penalized.
I even tried speaking with a supervisor. Basically, “they’re legitimate charges per your current plan, so you’ll have to pay the $190. There’s nothing I or anyone else here can do about it.”
I was a Verizon cellular customer for at least 10 years. Mobile broadband for 2+ years. And land line for 10+ years. I even tried their terrible web hosting service for 18 months. This meant nothing.
Well, there is something I can do.
Keep fighting. Dispute the charge which automatically goes to my credit card. Switch carriers...just ordered AT&T service for mobile internet. And I just ordered land phone service from yet another carrier...and I get to keep my existing phone number. And I switched to an iphone over the summer with AT&T because they roll-over unused minutes...Verizon doesn’t but they nick you every second you’re over plan!
And last, but not least, I can tell everyone I know and recommend any service but Verizon!
I should have known that Verizon doesn’t care about loyal customers. I never got one inquiry — email, phone call, survey, nothing! -- as to why I dropped cell service with them after 10+ years.
Within a matter of weeks, Verizon will be completely gone from my life! Yes, divorce from service providers takes time even after ordering services from new providers!Anonymous - Verizon H8er ID: C3C314 |
