My father died April 6. I was at my parents' house on April 7, answering the phone. A caller asked to speak to my father. I said he'd died the night before and asked what the call concerned. The caller said he was from Verizon and wanted to offer my father a new package of communications options. He then asked whether I was authorized to make telecomm decisions for the household.
