| Verizon faces a Two Billion Dollar Lawsuit |
"The 47-page lawsuit, filed in Mecklenburg County Court in Charlotte, alleges that Verizon lured FairPoint into the transaction so it could rid itself of its aging networks and focus on markets more profitable than traditional landlines. It further claims that Verizon took advantage of delays in regulatory approval for the deal to cannibalize business customers and stopped performing routine maintenance on the assets that FairPoint was acquiring." | 11/01/11 | 19:56PM | To anyone in the landline industry this was a big duh and/or foregone conclusion. But when the right executives get what they want deals like this go through.
It's ashame, if properly maintained that old twisted wire plant can do alot. But I don't think the Farpoint executives realized how bad the RBOCs like Verizon neglected the old twisted copper wire plant. I'd sure like to know what kind of outside plant engineering assetments they got before inking the deal.
Here's the news story on the suit.
