PC broadband roaming charges

I just whacked for $3200 for PC Broadband roaming charges in Canada. I used my PC to connect 4 times
in a 4 days span to check e-mail. Came home to a $3200 charge. Verizon offered to take off $1800 -- when I asked for more -- they said I could talk to a supervisor -- who said they would not take anything off i.e $0.....I got the PC card for unlimited usage for $59 but was not informed about the roaming charges in Canada. Anyway, the charges seem extremely excessive.
