| Who's been using my line? So much for "Privacy is Your Right & Our Responsibility. This IS scary |
My Verizon phone bills have contained charges for calls made to this number in Great Falls, Montana. Dialing it to see who it belongs to, I got a fax handshake tone. I tried various means to trace the subscriber but no luck. Duration of calls was 3 and 5 minutes. Same strange calls to fax lines 401-937-7000 and 401-937-7010 located in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. In the case of those calls, Verizon grudgingly stated that although the line was not one of theirs [it appears to be owned by "Global NAPS"] they knew who the subscriber was but they would not divulge the identity. It is pretty scary to think that someone can be secretly moving data on a phone line that you are paying for. Verizon had no interest solving this mystery. In fact, they tried to duck me for months. So much for their proclamation,"At Verizon, we recognize that PRIVACY is YOUR RIGHT and OUR RESPONSIBILITY." What more egregious invasion of my telephonic privacy---someone lifting my line to send data---might Verizon be referring to???? - Verizon H8er ID: DEC0AB |

If you recently had your service installed they more than likely re-used a line that was connected to another location. When the other location cancelled their service and you ordered YOUR service the thechnician that came to install the serice at your place WAS supposed to go to the last location where the line was connected and REMOVE the drop wire connected at the pole. Sounds like they didn't do that so the other person in using your dial tone and may not even know it thinking it's their # - Verizon H8er ID: 7E55B0 |
