| All depends on who you work for. Most departments will advise their manager's of an upcoming RIF well before the notification date. Generally older workers who have 25 plus years are usually asked if they are thinking about retiring, so as to minimize the number that have to be RIF'd. Although; there are some departments at Verizon that don't bother to let anyone know until the notification date. | Unfortunatly Tech's like you don't know what a great job you have. Never have you given an 8 hour day to Verizon, Bell atlantic, NYNEX, or NY Telephone. Unless there was 5 hours OT involved, then maybe a total of 8 hours was worked. And the new guys think they are entitled from day one.
