| Totally glad I left Verizon! |
I have been a customer with Verizon for over 5 years, and after paying way too much for a bare bones plan, I figured now was as good a time as any to switch carriers. I went to the Verizon store near my home to cancel my service and was directed to one of their customer service reps. After telling the rep that I wanted to cancel my service, I was told that I still had a "few months" left to go on my contract and that it wasn't up until June - so it would be more beneficial for me to just wait. RED FLAG #1: First of all, as it is now September, it is baffling to me how 9 months from now can be referred to as just a "few" months. RED FLAG #2: My contract ended last September and I had never signed a new one! (The fee to cancel when you still have time on your contract is close to $100)
Immediately, I told the rep that my contract had ended last September but he continued to tell me that my contract was not up. Normally, I am not an argumentative person, but I know when I'm getting screwed, so I insisted back that my contract was up. (I even pointed out the texts I continued to get from Verizon telling me to come in and renew my contract).
The rep finally decided to get his supervisor who tried to find out why I wanted to cancel. When I told him that I decided to get a new phone through another carrier, he asked if anything was wrong with my old phone. I told him that it had some minor problems, but nothing major. He proceeded to try and SELL me equipment repair, after I told him I already had a new phone! I told him that I wanted to cancel my service and (surprise, surprise) he told me that I still had time on my contract, but never offered to produce the contract with my signature. After nearly 20 minutes of insisting that I had never signed a new contract, the supervisor FINALLY told me that it must have been an error on their part. I will never be back to Verizon, nor will I ever recommend anyone to use their services.
Meanwhile, I managed to get a brand new MyTouch through T-Mobile. With internet and unlimited texts I am paying less per month than I was with my Verizon Chocolate that had NO internet and only 100 texts per month.

Did you even bother to read the first post? Quit being a Verizon fan-boy and learn how to read, dammit! - Verizon H8er ID: C68643 |
